Several months ago desperate owners surrendered their 3-year-old Pit Bull Terrier,
Jack, to our no-kill shelter.  Jack had been with his family since a pup and was raised
with their 3 children.  He was used to lounging on the couch and having LOTS of
attention.  The owners had to move and Jack could not go along with them.  After a sad
good-bye, Jack was left with us - confused and very unhappy.  The first day he was
here, volunteer Lisa Boyce heard the worst screaming sound she'd ever heard.  She
discovered that the sound was the pitiful cry of our recently abandoned Jack.  Jack
hated his new life in a run without his family.  He was only happy when he was able to
be around workers and volunteers, so volunteer Lisa made him her special personal
project, paying lots of extra attention to him.  To Lisa's surprise a day came when Jack
was not in his run when she came to volunteer.  She discovered that he had been
adopted!  Now he lives with his new family - including a boxer named Lyoko (his new
best friend).  Jack and his new family are happy together.  One of the new owners' sons
said about Jack,  "He is my new best buddy!"  Owner Rebecca says that Jack "fits right
in like he's always been with us."  Jack's new home is filled with warmth and love -
another happy ending for one of Marion County's homeless pets - homeless no more!
